Welcome to The Baton

December 2021 - News Letter

Music Director

You will all now be aware that our Music Director, Ben Kearsley, will be leaving us at the end of this term and we wish him well in his new position.  Ben joined us in 2019 and had to develop, along with our other staff, the successful virtual rehearsals on Zoom which ran from March 2020 until June of this year. His debut concert was the 25th Anniversary Concert in November 2019 which he jointly conducted with his predecessor.

We thank Charlotte and Jayne for stepping in to jointly cover Senior rehearsals from January until a new M.D. can be appointed.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT : 11th December 2021 – Trinity Methodist Church, Congleton.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE -

This has been brought about as the Town Hall had been block booked by the NHS and we weren’t able to arrange a concert there this term.  As the number of people allowed to be in the Church at any time is limited to a maximum of 120 (including musicians and staff)  it was decided that we should arrange two concerts, one for the Intermediates commencing at 2.30pm  and another one for the Seniors commencing at 6pm.  Each concert will be approximately one hour in duration.

Forms have been sent to all families offering tickets free of charge, but only two tickets for members of the Seniors’ families  and four tickets for members of the Intermediates’ families are available. There will be a retiring collection at the end of each concert.   If you haven’t yet claimed your tickets please see Helen Elkin on Saturday.  There will be a different coloured ticket for each concert.

Only ticket holders can be allowed entry to the concerts.

It is hoped that our concerts in 2022 will be able to go ahead with fewer restrictions on audience numbers.

Don't forget to smile!

Amazon “Smile”  -  Thank you to all those families who have signed up to supporting CYO with Amazon Smile.  So far some 16 families have signed up and hopefully there will be many more in future.  To date it has generated just over £40 for orchestra funds.

We are a registered charity therefore please use our registration number: 1071130 when signing up with smile.

Christmas Party: December 18th

It has been decided to hold the Christmas party on Zoom again this year.  Log-in details will be sent out the week before and the staff are working to make it as interesting and exciting as it was last year.  Certainly, it seemed to be enjoyed by all.  Siblings can also take part with you if they would like to.
