Our AGM this year will be held on Saturday 6th November and will again be via the zoom platform as this seemed very popular with members last year. The necessary voting paperwork will be sent out via e-mail in due course.
Rotary Club of Congleton - "Bikeathon 21"
Congratulations to Jim Elkin on taking part on behalf of CYO. He raised £1,000 and CYO received 50% of this and a cheque was presented at the end of July.
Recruitment Video for Schools
Before the end of last term some of you took part in promoting the Orchestra on video by talking about what you like about being a member. Hopefully this will be distributed to local schools in September in the hope of recruiting more members as the annual Open Day had to be cancelled due to covid. Thank you to all of you who contributed.
Love Music Trust / CYO Orchestral Weekend 15/16th October
If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for this exciting music weekend in October. It should be lots of fun and hopefully another opportunity to recruit more members at the same time This will replace our normal Saturday morning rehearsal for that weekend only. To enrol on the weekend, go to the Love Music Trust website and follow the directions to enrol.

For the Seniors (grade 4 upwards) the weekend commences on Friday 15th and continues until Sunday 17th. For Intermediate groups (beginners to Grade 3), Saturday 16 October is a whole day event. As the weekend is open to all musicians in the Cheshire East area, early enrolment is recommended. The event is being held at Eaton Bank Academy in Congleton.
Orchestral Representative
As Eleanor has now left us for University there is a vacancy for Orchestral Rep. This position is open to any senior orchestra member who feels they can represent CYO members on the Advisory Panel meetings. If you wish to stand, you will need to obtain nominations from two other members and should be made in writing to the Secretary Helen Chappel.
Free Concert Admission for CYO Members
Many of you will remember Joe Hearson who worked with us for a while. He has now set up his own professional orchestra and has made the following offer to CYO members:-
As part of their 'SVO Discover' (Symphonia Verbum Orchestra) initiative, anyone under the age of 18 will be able to book a free ticket provided they are with a responsible adult(s). The concert will take place at the King's Hall, Stoke, on Friday 29 October 2021 at 7.30pm.

Amazon “Smile” - Thank you to all those families who have signed up to supporting CYO with Amazon Smile. So far some 16 families have signed up and hopefully there will be many more in future. To date it has generated just over £40 for orchestra funds.
