Welcome to The Baton
April 2026 - News Letter

Term dates
Rotary Swimathon
Saturday 21st March – 4pm Congleton Leisure Centre.
We had ten members sign up for this event, so thank you to them all for taking part. They had a fun time and team “Crotchets” swam 123 lengths and team “Quavers” swam 120 lengths. They even had a visit from Congleton’s “Carni Bear” to cheer them on. We hope they raise lots of money - 50% of which will come back to CYO funds. WELL DONE EVERYONE .

Other senior members are also invited if they are comfortable with the music. The LMT will provide transport to and from Chester free of charge to members, picking up at Trinity at 09.15am, and then on to Sandbach for other pickups. Any parents who may wish to go will be charged (no details yet).

For members who are not taking part, then normal rehearsals will take place.

Message from the Trustees and Staff of the CYO
Don’t forget to support us by using the Easyfundraising app. Every time you make a purchase on line with a company who is registered, we get a donation towards CYO funds (from the Company – not you personally).

Summer Play Day
Summer Play Day – August 18th

This is being put on by Congleton Town Council and will be held in the pedestrian area of Congleton Town Centre on Tuesday 18th August where we hope to have a stall to promote the Orchestra. It will be an opportunity for children to have a go on certain instruments with a view to perhaps joining our new Training Groups in September. It is free for everyone to attend. So if you have a friend who might be interested in learning an instrument, bring them along to have a go ! If you would like to volunteer to help man the stall and show children how to play your chosen instrument, then please let us know. You can stay for as long as you like between 10.30am and approx. 2.30pm. We will be under a gazebo so don’t worry about the weather !
