Summer Play Day – August 18th

This is being put on by Congleton Town Council and will be held in the pedestrian area of Congleton Town Centre on Tuesday 18th August where we hope to have a stall to promote the Orchestra.  It will be an opportunity for children to have a go on certain instruments with a view to perhaps joining our new Training Groups in September. It is free for everyone to attend. So if you have a friend who might be interested in learning an instrument, bring them along to have a go ! If you would like to volunteer to help man the stall and show children how to play your chosen instrument, then please let us know. You can stay for as long as you like between 10.30am and approx. 2.30pm. We will be under a gazebo so don’t worry about the weather !

Town Hall Invitation

Congleton Town Council is inviting youth groups to take part in an exclusive evening tour of Congleton Town Hall between September and January, offering an engaging opportunity to explore the town’s history, heritage, and local democracy in a fun and interactive way.

Each session begins with a welcoming introduction to Congleton’s fascinating past, including an interactive quiz exploring the town’s history, its original Charter and life in medieval Congleton. Participants will also learn about the role of the town council today and discover how young people can get involved in local decision-making through the Youth Council.

The evening continues with a guided tour of the town hall, featuring some of its most interesting treasures and hidden features. Highlights include viewing the Town Mace, ringing the Town Crier’s Bell, exploring the Grand Hall, and uncovering the secret tunnel. The visit concludes with a well-earned drink and biscuits!

Tours run from 6pm to 8pm and places are limited to 50 participants per session, so early booking is recommended.

Is anyone interested in going to one of these visits?  If so please let us know.
